The producer:

Cantina Paltrinieri is located in Cristo di Sorbara, near the Modena state, in a small town, near the Secchia and Panaro rivers, the historic scene of the street.

Run by Alberto Paltrinieri and family it was created by his grandfather in the 1920s and owns around 15 hectares of vineyards in the Cristo area, one of the most important for this kind of wine.
The vines are located in an ideal position and they alone produce all the grapes from which the wines are made. Here we are at the heart of the Lambrusco di Sorbara production area in the province of Modena, in the region of Emilia. Zenato’s Recioto: 93 Pts by James Suckling

Zenato's Recioto: 93 Pts by James Suckling

Zenato‘s Recioto 2019 has been awarded with 93 Pts by James Suckling.
Proud of such an high rating for this interesting dessert wine of Zenato.

Zenato's Recioto: 93 Pts by James Suckling

The wine:
Did you know that the term Recioto comes from the Veronese dialectal word recia meaning ear?

The name is used to denote the small side bunches that “crown” the larger clusters. According to local tradition, their fruit is considered to be the best.

This dessert wine lights up the glass with its vibrant nuanced colors. It’s marvelous when served with chocolate fondue but it also pairs well with any oven-fired dessert, like Verona-style pandoro, classic panettone, or even crunchy cookies.

Zenato’s world:

The story of Zenato is the story of a family that firmly planted its roots in the land. It was made possible thanks to the passion and entrepreneurial vision of the estate’s founder, Sergio, who managed to fulfill his greatest dream: to create a winery capable of harvesting the fruits of the earth and transform them into emotions with matchless flavor.

Today, more than 60 years later, the results are testament to his extraordinary vision. A wonderful story took shape thanks to his vision and today its star is his family: Wife Carla and children Alberto and Nadia.
Their eyes and their heart continue down the path that Sergio laid out with great clarity as he steadied the course toward quality and love for their land. Over time, that land wasn’t just Lugana but also Valpolicella, with its celebrated red wines and their matchless aromas.

The producer:

An historic Estate

The passion of one man marks the beginning of the history of Podere Il Castellaccio. In the 1960s, Luigi Corradini, the maternal grandfather of current owner Alessandro Scappini, found an estate of 18 hectares on the hills of Castagneto Carducci. The area is Bolgheri, a place that was not yet world famous and had nothing to recommend it other than the essence of the land and the potential it had to produce great wine.
To plant his first vineyards Luigi was only able to use grapes that were native to the Chianti and Scansano area. Thus were Pugnitello, Foglia Tonda, Sangiovese planted – just a few hectares, native wine varieties and a small wine cellar. Over the years, the management of the estate gradually transitioned into the hands of his son Roberto.

However, it was only in 2009 that the winery Podere Il Castellaccio was founded by Alessandro Scappini, the third generation in charge of the estate.
Alessandro Scappini, born and raised in Bolgheri, decided indeed to work with a 60 years old family vineyard planted with ancient varieties. In the meantime he also starts growing the signature grapes of the DOC and makes his debut on the market with its first Bolgheri wine with the vintage 2015. His path inside the DOC is completed in the vintage 2018 when his Bolgheri Superiore Il Castellaccio is born and it was released for the first time on the market at the begin of 2021.

Podere Il Castellaccio is situated in Castagneto Carducci, across the seaward side of Segalari Hills, at an altitude of 194 meters a.s.l.
Due to its geographic position, the vineyards enjoy  a Mediterranean climate, with more solar radiations, a  better thermal excursion and a higher ventilation.

Not only Bolgheri

A sip from the past, while looking to the future” is the catchphrase used by this highly-manicured Bolgheri winery.

The family passion and the expertise added by the winemaker Attilio Pagli have the aim to tell the story of the region through the salvaging of ancient varieties that are inextricably linked to the tradition of Tuscan wine, specifically in the area of Bolgheri.
The older vineyards, occupying more than 2 hectares, are planted with Tuscan natives Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Foglia Tonda and Pugnitello.

THE TERRITORY:
Cabert is located in Bertiolo, a village in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The Alps protect this region from the cold air of the north, while the proximity of the Adriatic maintains a mild climate.
This is a large area formed by the floods of the Meduna, Cellina and Tagliamento rivers which, over the millennia, have deposited enormous quantities of calcareous-dolomitic material torn from the mountain by the violence of the waters and dragged downstream along their bed. The large stone floor formed reflects the light necessary for the ripening of the grapes during the day, while at night it releases the heat accumulated during the hottest hours. This favors a more homogeneous ripening of the grapes and the development of a wide range of fragrances and aromas.

THE HISTORY:
More than 60 years have passed since Cabert could be defined as a small winery. Over 200 hectolitres of wine are bottled every day and distributed to more than 25 countries.  Since the 1960s, the numerous expansions to the winery have never stopped, right up until the construction of the last piece in 2016, with the construction of a warehouse for products ready for shipment, stored in a controlled atmosphere to preserve all their qualities.

THE PHILOSOPHY:
CABERT wines are born from the love for the land and from a long wine-making tradition integrated with cutting-edge technological innovations. The result is extreme attention to detail throughout all stages of production, and a deep respect for the terroir, the vines, and all their peculiar qualities. The fruit of passion, commitment and love dedicated to the wines to all those who already appreciate them, and to all those who will soon discover them.

Moreover we are proud to inform you that Masseria Cuturi and Palazzone received a Snail too.

Masseria Cuturi: we are talking about a family, originally from Veneto managing this beautiful estate in Puglia which includes a skilfully renovated farmhouse and many hectares of land. Among the woods, olive trees and vineyards. The Rossi-Chauvenets acquire a reality full of history. The farm, located in Manduria, was founded in 1881 and for centuries belonged to the Schiavoni family.

The current vineyard is about 40 hectares and is particularly fertile thanks to the organic substance contained in the soils and the water of the Chidro River that flows there.
Monte Diavoli Is a rocky formation that stands isolated in the middle of a vast flat area dominated by the Mediterranean Macchia. In the past it was the place where the Messapi kept the sacred fire of the rites of fertility. Today as then it is a mysterious and fascinating place.

Palazzone Vinibuoni Guide 2022

In 1969 the Dubini family bought the property “Palazzone”, constructed by Cardinal Teodorico at the bidding of Pope Boniface VIII as a hostel for pilgrims on their way to Rome to celebrate the Jubilee of 1300 A.D.

The nature of the rocks of this area is made up of clays, silts and sands; 2.5 million years ago there was a seabed which have accumulated the finer sediments transported by ancient rivers that crossed what were then the few areas emerged.
24 hectares of vineyards planted on the hillside close to  Orvieto, between 210 and 340 mts a.s.l.  cultivated with the traditional grapes of Orvieto such as  Procanico and Grechetto primarily, but also  Verdello and Malvasia grapes.

2017

CASALFARNETO WINE ESTATE DECIDES TO CONTINUE TO GROW AUTONOMOUSLY CUTTING THE CORD FROM THE FAMILY BUSINESS, STRONG IN PAOLO TOGNI’S KNOW-HOW AND BUSINESS EXPERIENCE OF FORTY YEARS

The Winery: CASALFARNETO, GETTING TO KNOW VERDICCHIO WINE

In Le Marche region, in between the sea and the Apennines, one of the most beautiful hilly landscapes of Ancona’s province unfolds – it’s the land of prestigious wines such as Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. Here, with its 35 acres of vineyard, CasalFarneto Wine Estate is located, where technology, tradition and sustainability combine to produce wines of excellence. Under the shade of Farnetto oaks, from which the Estate gets its name, the farmhouse boasts the cultivation of white and red grapes, with particular attention to organic wine.

Technology and Nature: DESIGN IMMERSED IN THE GREEN

Aesthetics and functionality is the perfect blend in eco-architecture. CasaFarneto Wine Estate is the clear example of an eco-sustainable approach towards nature and the surrounding area. In the headland of Le Marche harmonious hills, the winery, mainly built of stone and wood, has been partly erected underground, blending itself with the landscape’s architecture and its colours. In this sense, Architect Nazzareno Petrini worked according to an aesthetic criterion that could enhance both the landscape and the winery with its winemaking technologies. As an example, the winery has been entirely covered by a roof garden planted to vines allowing for a double experience: the pleasant visual continuity with the landscape and a constant underground temperature at 18-20°C where the barrels and tanks are located. Inside, in line with the low environmental impact of the vineyards, technology couples up with natural processing methods to ensure purity in the wines and in the eco-system. CasalFarneto’s effort to reduce impact on the air, vineyard, land and environment makes it gain the definition of a “technological farm” – a place where to envisage the future of winemaking starting from the tradition.

The People:  ROOTS IN THE FUTURE

For a decade, CasalFarneto has been managed alongside the Togni Group allowing its wine production to make good use of technical and entrepreneurial know-how, which has been vital to grow a business nurtured by strong effort and great passion for wine. Local geography, quality and innovation are a triple value aiming to propose a unique product to the consumer. The strong personality of CasalFarneto wines is the result of on-going experimentation retelling Le Marche winegrowing tradition in an increasingly more modern and biological key.

“To us, wine must represent the “terroir” and its culture. Each bottle expresses land, tradition, culture and work. It often becomes the souvenir of a pleasant holiday to remember, like a good old postcard to oneself or friends.”
Paolo Togni
Head of the family business
