Total lunar Ecplise

total lunar eclipse (picture NASA)
In the early morning of Thursday, March 13th into Friday, March 14th, it will occur a total lunar eclipse.
During this event, the Earth will align directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting Earth’s shadow over the Moon and giving it a reddish hue, often referred to as a “Blood Moon”.

Our proposal for this event:

Vino Bianco Frizzante Metodo Ancestrale Primo

The harvest is slightly anticipated to enhance freshness and acidity.

Wine obtained from a vinification with natural, not induced refermentation in bottle called “ancestral”. Before uncorking, the bottle can be shaken to suspend again all the yeasts, increasing greatly his complexity.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma of good intensity, fresh, citrusy with fruity notes of green apple, cedar and aromatic herbs. On the palate savory, fresh and crisp.

Women Power: Patrizia Cencioni

Women Power : Patrizia Cencioni

Cheers to Women and Wine

Saturday, the 8th of March 2025 we will raise our glasses to the women on International Women’s Day.

Women Power: Let us not just pop a bottle and sip in celebration, but let’s pay tribute to the women winemakers who have put their heart and soul into their craft. From the rolling hills of Piedmont in the north, to the sunny slopes of Sicily in the south, female vintners are revolutionizing the Italian wine scene, as they bring fresh, innovative perspectives while respecting the deep-rooted traditions.

One of these female vintners is Patrizia Cencioni:

Cantina Patrizia Cencioni:

The Cantina Patrizia Cencioni is managed by the owner Patrizia and her 2 daughters, Annalisa and Arianna. Thanks to the long family experience and the entrepreneurial skills of Patrizia, a refined feminine touch is added.

There is feminine elegance in the wines from this cantina.

High profile wines and Sangiovese:

The azienda creates high profile wines, thanks to a very good balance between use of modern technologies and respect for the tradition. This results in a range of excellent wines. Wines where Sangiovese is the protagonist.

We highlight 3 wonderful Italian wines for Women’s Day:

The Rosato Toscana is made with 100% Sangiovese. The taste is round, sapid and crisp and has an elegant finish. There is a great balance between roundness and fresh acidity.

This wine is an excellent combination with cheese, fresh first courses and cold cuts, as well as vegetables based dishes.

The Rosso di Montalcino is made with 100% Sangiovese. Hints of spice give complexity to the wine, the aroma is vivid, fresh with cherry and violet. The flavour is with great crispness, it is well-structured and a great drinkability. This wine is very well balanced and has an evident pleasant character. A perfectly pairing with red and white meats, cold cuts and cheese.

Brunello di Montalcino

The Brunello di Montalcino is made with 100% Sangiovese. The flavour is intense and developing, in the foreground there is an intense fruity note of iron cherry, then comes the balsamicity of Mediterranean bush, along with hints of cocoa and tobacco.

This wine has a perfect food pairing with red meats and game.

So, this March 8th, let’s uncork something special — whether it’s the robust Brunello di Montalcino or the fresh Rosato Toscana, let it be a reminder of the magic that happens when you combine tradition, hard work, and a touch of daring innovation.

Carmignano: small appellation, Great wines

Carmignano: small appellation, Great wines

The production of Carmignano goes back to  the Etruscan times.
It was established in 1716 by the proclamation “Above the Declaration of the Borders of the four Regions of Chianti, Pomino, Carmignano and Val d’Arno di Sopra” issued by Grand Duke Cosimo III de’ Medici in which the boundaries of the wine-growing areas were set.

In 1975, thanks to the initiative of the winemakers of Carmignano, it obtained the DOC and in 1990 the DOCG.

Carmignano wine is obtained largely from the Sangiovese grape variety combined with Canaiolo Nero (max. 20%), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (10-20%) and a possible addition of white grapes (max. 10%) of the Trebbiano Toscano, Canaiolo Bianco and Malvasia del Chianti grape varieties.

The windy climate and the high temperature ranges, the well-distributed rainfall even in the summer period make the Carmignano area particularly suitable for growing vines, favoring the ripening of the grapes. The resulting wine is structured with a fine and intense bouquet, which lends itself well to aging (according to the regulations, 10 months of aging in oak and/or chestnut barrels are mandatory, and 12 months for the Carmignano Riserva DOCG).

We are glad to inform you that Fattoria Ambra‘s Carmignano Montalbiolo Riserva 2020 is among the best Carmignano, according to Gambero Rosso.

“The wine has richness and structure, maintaining a dynamic, taut and wide-ranging sip, accompanied by an intense and well-focused aromatic baggage.

Fattoria Ambra has belonged to the Romei Rigoli family since the end of the nineteenth century. And today it is run by Giuseppe Rigoli, together with his wife Susan and his nephew Fabio Marzotti. The vineyards, cultivated mainly with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo, are located in some of the most significant areas of the Carmignano denomination: Montalbiolo, Elzana, Santa Cristina in Pilli, Montefortini and Podere Lombarda and are managed organically.”
