Castello di Bolgheri terroir

CASTELLO DI BOLGHERI:

The vineyards of Castello di Bolgheri are located in the neighborhood of the village, with south-west exposure and the rows perpendicular to the sea enjoying the afternoon ventilation during hot days. The soils are mainly a sub-alkaline reaction of sandy-stony stony clay. The average altitude is 70 meters s.l.m. The whole company falls in the DOC Bolgheri in the town of Castagneto Carducci.

The Bolgheri Castle, whose origins date back to the 13th century, has always been owned by the Gherardesca Counts.
Its cellar, dated five centuries later, is the oldest in the area and the only one in the Bolgheri country.
Although wine has been produced here for centuries, the credit of having turned the agricultural reality into a high quality winery goes to the current family’s descendant, Federico Zileri Dal Verme.
