Roero Arneis – Monchiero Carbone
The Roero Arneis Riserva Renesio Incisa 2018 from Monchiero Carbone receives 92 points from Wine Enthusiast
Roero Arneis DOCG Riserva
NEW CONCEPT: Renesio Incisa is a new concept of Roero Arneis. Unique is that it moves away from how this wine has been interpreted so far. Monchiero Carbone has namely realized over the years that Arneis is a grape variety that is highly suited for aging. They have identified the vineyard Renesio Incisa as considered the best of their estate for the production of Arneis. The vineyard has a considerable altitude and soil that is rich in sand.
RISERVA: The Roero Arneis Appellation allowed Riserva production. Thanks to this new opportunity, Monchiero Carbone could decide to create this new concept of Arneis. They mature it longer in the cellar. And with a mixed ageing in wood and steel they are able to release it at the right time for consumption.
The first vintage of Renesio Incisa was 2016. All the bottles are numbered, it is a limited production. This is very suitable for those who prefer more evolved and complex white wines, that have a few years on their shoulders and which can be kept for at least 10/15 years.
Piedmont region, the province of Cuneo. Roero is located north to Alba.
From the vintage 2018 only 4229 bottles are produced. Some of these bottels are already available for sale before the official release on Monchiero Carbone’s online Wine Club.
Technical data:
Colour: this wine has an intense straw yellow colour.
Nose: In the nose it is rich and complex; with aromas of citrus fruits, white pepper, aromatic herbs and a delicate note of dried apricot.
Taste: on the palate the wine is soft and powerful. As it has a vigorous acidity, leaving a rich taste in the mouth and exquisitely integrating the mineral notes. The aftertaste is soft and elegant, but also extremely rich and deep.
Food pairings: Try this with elaborate fish dishes or medium-aged cheese. But also first courses such as stuffed egg pasta, lasagna with meat sauce suits very well.
In the new part of the cellar, inaugurated in 2020, there is a big terracotta amphora. This amphora is used, among other tools, for the ageing process of the Renesio Incisa.
