Vitae La Guida Vini 2027
The 2022 Riserva embodies this philosophy perfectly—balancing a refined structure, vibrant acidity, and polished tannins with the unmistakable character of the Rufina hills
Villa di Vetrice: An Inseparable Bond with the Terroir
The identity of Villa di Vetrice is entirely defined by the specific, rugged landscape of the Rufina valley:
• The Cooling Alpine Breeze: The estate develops along a unique north-to-south valley orientation. Every evening, a cool alpine wind sweeps down from the north. This creates drastic summer diurnal (day-to-night) temperature variations that lock in the high acidity, freshness, and pure aromatics characteristic of their fruit.
• High-Altitude Clay & Galestro: Situated at challenging altitudes around 400 meters, the vineyards sit on soils rich in clay and galestro (calcareous marl). This rocky, well-draining soil forces the roots deep, imparting a distinct mineral complexity and a savory, earthy structural back-bone to the wines.
• Preserving Native Biodiversity: Deeply tied to local agricultural heritage, the family rejects international trends in favor of indigenous grape varieties. They cultivate Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino, and even collaborated with the University of Florence to establish the “Vitiarium”—a living research collection dedicated to saving and studying historic Chianti Rufina grape germplasm
“It is essential to enhance each terroir and make them excellent products”
