Great success and prove for the consistent quality by Italian wines are the in total 639 awards (12 Grand Gold, 370 Gold, 257 Silver), given by the strict jury.
Second place goes to Spain with 535 awards (7 Grand Gold, 302 Gold, 226 Silver), followed by Portugal (352 awards), France (296 awards), Germany (193 awards) as well as Austria (105 awards).
“The Spring Tasting is always a very good indicator for the quality of the wines from the new vintage coming onto the market now. Mid-march we will hand-over the awards for the Best of Show wines to the producers personally on ProWein, the most important wine trade fair in the world. This is always a very special moment for the board and me, because during the tasting only the quality in the bottle is important. The jury has only basic information about the wines like vintage and grape variety, so focus during the judgement is completely on the quality in the bottle.”
