93 points for Brunello di Montalcino

93 points for Brunello di Montalcino 2019 from Patrizia Cencioni

Kerin O’Keefe rated Patrizia Cencioni’s Brunello di Montalcino 2019 with  93 points.

The tasting took place in December 2023.

“The Patrizia Cencioni 2019 Brunello is a lovely wine, opening with aromas of violet, botanical herb, forest floor and a whiff of new leather. Linear and elegant, the taut palate features ripe black cherry, spiced blueberry, blood orange and star anise before a black tea finish. It has youthful tension, thanks to bright acidity and a backbone of firm, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2027–2039. Abv: 14.5%

If you want to taste this Brunello di Montalcino at the location where it comes from and pay a visit to the lovely Azienda Agricola, this is possible. The owners would love to welcome you and introduce you to the traditions of the Montalcino territory and its wines.

A step-by-step experience will conclude with a tasting of Rosso di Montalcino, of course the Brunello di Montalcino,  but also the IGT Solarianna and extra virgin olive oil plus a grappa di Brunello.

The vineyards from the Cantina Patrizia Cencioni date back to the year 1989. The total area of the company is 50 HA. The vineyards are very near to the cellar and thanks to this proximity the manual harvest is carried out in a short time to the fermentation cellar.

Fermentation cellar:

A correct fermentation is guaranteed with the steel vats at controlled temperatures. The slow aging of the wines takes place in oak barrels. With their refinements, the elegance and character – peculiar characteristics of each vintage as well- stand out also in the bottle.
