Pertinace Barbaresco awarded by Wine Enthusiast

Barbaresco DOCG

The Barbaresco DOCG 2018 from Pertinace offers a captivating bouquet of red fruits, dried flowers, and subtle hints of spices. On the palate, it displays a harmonious balance of flavors, with ripe cherry, raspberry, and plum notes complemented by well-integrated tannins and a vibrant acidity.

Tastingnote Wine Enthusiast:  “Aromas recalling pressed rose, wild herbs and woodland berries come to the forefront. Vibrant and lithe, the linear palate offers strawberry compote, bitter almond and star anise alongside fine-grained tannins.”

Barbaresco CRU Marcarini DOCG

The Cru Marcarini DOCG wine from Pertinace is characterized by its elegance, complexity, and age-worthiness.  Upon tasting, one can expect a wine with intense aromas of red fruits, floral notes, and hints of spices. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance of fruit flavors, well-integrated tannins, and a long, lingering finish. This exceptional wine is a true reflection of the unique terroir of the Marcarini vineyard and the expertise of Pertinace’s winemakers. It is a true representation of the excellence that can be found in Piemonte’s winemaking tradition.

Tastingnote Wine Enthusiast:  “This fragrant red has enticing scents of iris, violet and perfumed berry. On the elegantly structured, savory palate, taut, bright acidity and fine-grained tannins accompany red cherry, orange zest licorice and a candied note before a mouth drying finish.”

The three crus – the CastellizzanoMarcarini and Nervo (and Barbaresco DOCG)  are all produced following the same rules. They rest, without exception, in great casks for 18 months. Despite their similar gestation, the resultant wines have very different personalities, strongly influenced by the differences in terroir.  A reflection of careful and constant work in the vineyards.
