5StarWines – The Book 2024

The list of wines selected for the guide 5StarWines-The book 2024 is recently published. This wine selection is organized by Veronafiere. During 3 days of tastings the Wine Without Walls & 5StarWines jury tastes and rates the participating wines. This is done by highly qualified wine professionals.

In total 2269 wines participated and 733 of these got 90 points or higher, earning a place in the guide.

Some of our associated producers are mentioned in the 2024 edition.

This wine, created by the third generation of the Dal Bianco family, comes from vineyards cultivated using organic methods that observe Nature’s timing, without forcing the plant to produce a high yield and without using chemical fertilisers. The wine is sleek, flavourful and pleasant on the palate with the balance of acidity and softness enhanced in the lingering aromatic finish.

This wine selection is organized by Veronafiere.

Wine Without Walls & 5StarWines is a three-day tasting that puts a spotlight on all the wineries investing in the improvement of their wines. A jury of highly qualified wine professionals from around the world taste and rate the participating wines.

5StarWines – the Book, is the first Guide that is promoted by an International Fair, created with the aim of offering wine producers an effective promotional and marketing tool for their companies.

The guide recognizes and rewards the quality of the wines, and companies presented in it, through the objective judgement by an international panel of experts. These include Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, sommeliers from starred restaurants, journalists, oenologists, Italian Wine Experts and Ambassadors from the Vinitaly International Academy. All with different origins, specializations and backgrounds. It is published in paper and digital format in English and distributed in Italy and abroad, at the main trade fairs, B2B meetings, tastings and masterclasses aimed at professionals in the wine business.

For the first time, 2 wines from Masottina are selected for the Merano Wine Festival and have received the WINEHUNTER AWARD.

What is the WineHunter award?

The WineHunter Award is the award that is annually assigned to excellences of high quality wine but also to culinary products, distillates and craft beer.

What does the WineHunter Award guarantees?

The WineHunter Award guarantees the product’s superior quality and is conferred to Italian and international products that reach the minimum score of 90/100, after a careful evaluation process.

How is the tasting committee composed ?

There are 8 tasting committees led by The WineHunter Helmuth Köcher. Each committee is composed by at least 3 members, of which experts in the field, sommeliers, bartenders, journalists or wine lovers. The central committee of Merano is composed by The WineHunter Helmuth Köcher and 2 more members.

What kind of information do the committee members receive about the wines ?

During the tastings the committee members are only provided with the following information: grape variety, vinification, vintage and area of origin.

How many categories there are ?

There are 3 categories: rosso, gold and platinum.

Prosecco Rosé Brut

As one of the first wineries Masottina bottled: Prosecco DOC Rosé Brut. A great new product for those who love the Prosecco style and rosé wines.

Ultimate sparkler:

Masottina’s ultimate sparkler has a dosage that enhanches the quality of the grapes and the unique features of the territory where it comes from.

The elegance of the Pinot Noir is interwined with the freshness of the Glera, creating a perfect balance. Harmony can also be found in the fine and persistent perlage.

The wine has a delicated and lively bouquet with a long and lingering finish and on the palate notes of small berries, hints of white fruits with a final floral touch.

Alcohol content: 11%
Serving temperature: 6-8 º C
Type: Spumante Brut Variety
90% Glera
10% Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir:

Over the years Masottina has looked for the best plot of land where planting the grape variety Pinot Noir, experimenting the different type of soil, exposure and ventilation, already long before Prosecco DOC Rosé could be produced. The Dal Bianco family has consistently growing this grape variety, using it in the production of sparkling wine. Considering Masottina’s winemaking history, as a matter of fact, Pinot Noir has always been an important grape variety, to which has been dedicated particular attention and resources in finding the best soils and exposure.

New vineyard:

Mr. Adriano Dal Bianco has planted a new vineyard that is dedicated to Pinot Noir only. The Masottina Prosecco Rosé project is going to be definitely completed in 2021 when it will be labeled Prosecco DOC Treviso as the new Pinot Noir vineyard will be ready to produce grapes to be used in the blend.
