Masottina’s flagship Prosecco, the R.D.O. Levante 2024, has been honored with the prestigious Corona Award by the ViniBuoni d’Italia 2026 guide.

Recognized as one of the best Italian sparkling wines after a tasting of over 30.000 entries, this Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG has also secured a coveted spot in the national TOP 300 finals.

About R.D.O. Levante: A Top-Tier Prosecco from a Single Vineyard

The Masottina R.D.O. Levante Extra Dry is an exceptional Prosecco Superiore DOCG and a true flagship of the winery. The name tells its story: R.D.O. stands for Rive di Ogliano, a specific ‘cru’ or single-vineyard site within the renowned Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco region.

This wine is unique due to its specific origin:

Vineyard: Levante (East) indicates the eastern exposure where the vines benefit from the gentle morning sun.
Vines: The grapes are sourced from vines over 60 years old, which provides depth and complexity.
Vintage: It is a Millesimato, meaning all Glera grapes come from a single, outstanding harvest year.

Tasting Notes & Characteristics

Color & Perlage: A bright, straw-yellow color with a lively, fine, and persistent bubble.
Aroma: Rich and complex with floral scents (linden, acacia) intertwined with fruity notes of pear, apple, bergamot, and grapefruit.
Flavor Profile: The taste is lively, saline, and perfectly structured. Flavors of quince and lemon lead to a long, pleasant finish with a subtle, perfectly balanced sweetness.

Vinibuoni Crown for Masottina

For the second year in a row Masottina received a ‘Crown’ from the Vinibuoni d’Italia Guide for the wine R.D.O. Ponente Brut Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Rive di Ogliano.

This is a remarkable recognition and is attributed to excellent wines.

R.D.O. Ponente 2022 Brut: Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Rive di Ogliano DOCG

This Prosecco has a very elegant straw yellow colour with bright greenish-golden hints and a very fine and lingering perlage. The taste is fresh with hints of bergamot, white mulberry, peaches, melons and acacia blossoms. There is a rich mix of aromas that is completed by lemon balm, thyme, mint and sage. The finish is long and well-balanced and closes with a nuance of lime, ginger and spices. The variety is 100% Glera .

R.D.O. Ponente Brut comes from a single vineyard facing south-west. This wine encapsulates all the finesse and elegance of a unique terroir such as Ogliano.

In 2009, when Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore was elevated to DOCG a new indication was introduced: Rive. Which identifies on the label the municipality where the grapes are grown. Ogliano is one of the 43 Rive where Terre di Ogliano and the Dal Bianco family cultivate almost 20% of the entire vine planted area. The Ogliano landscape is the only Conegliano Valdobbiadene area with a glacial origin and this means morenic soil rich and fertile and water that easily penetrates to ensure a natural reserve that is useful in dry periods. Wines from Ogliano are well-rounded, intense and persistent.

The Vini Buoni d’Italia Guide from the Touring Club Italiano selected the wines for the 2022 edition.

Icardi wines in the Vini Buoni Guide:

Claudio and Mariagrazia Icardi are wineproducers in the region Piemonte and manage the company in their father’s footsteps. The winery is located in Castiglione Tinella, within the province of Cuneo, between the lower Langhe and the Monferrato region.
