The colour of this beautiful wine is bright salmon pink with copper reflections. The nose is fresh, fine and elegant with hints of peach blossoms and small red fruits: currants and wild strawberries.

Saturday, the 8th of March 2025 we will raise our glasses to the women on International Women’s Day.

Women Power: Let us not just pop a bottle and sip in celebration, but let’s pay tribute to the women winemakers who have put their heart and soul into their craft. New vineyard for Gracciano

New vineyard for Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta

Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta recently bought a new vineyard, increasing the total vineyard extension to 20.58 hectares now.

It has a south-east exposure and an altitude of 290 meters above sea level. It is characterized by the same soil type (silt-clay) as the vineyards that surround the Gracciano della Seta winery.

The picture below shows the location of the new acquisition:

AREA: The area is particularly suitable for growing grape vines. The prugnolo gentile variety reveals its full potential through a slow and complete ageing process, helped by good ventilation, the fluctuation between day and night temperatures and excellent exposure. Late frosts and hailstorms are rare in the area.

The vineyard of Nobile di Montepulciano is planted with Sangiovese, 50% planted in 2018 and 50% in 2001.

WINES: The beautiful grapes growing here results in great wines, like the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva, the Rosso di Montepulciano (organic) , the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano (organic) or the Rosato Toscana. Starting from the 2018 harvest, all the Gracciano della Seta wines are certified as organic. The estate’s wines can be considered traditional, they are suitable for ageing, but also pleasant to drink when they are young.

The Zenato Lugana San Benedetto is made from a selection of the best grapes from the eponymous estate. Zenato’s Rosé San Benedetto is the ‘Rosé wine of the year’ chosen by the Finnish Wine Magazine ‘Viinilehti‘.

Juha Berglund and Antti Rinta-Huumo tasted a total of 72 rosé wines sent by wine importers to the ‘Rosé Wine of the Year Competition.’ The wines were tasted and judged blindly, the winner was revealed to the judges first after the selection.

“Open and very fresh, lively and floral aroma’s. Taste of currants, cherries and citric nuances. The wine also has hints of raspberry and strawberry, including ripe red apples.”

” Harmonious and delicious, everything you expect from a good rosé wine.”

Judges comments: (…) “choosing the top three was relatively easy this year. The rosé wine of the year is exceptionally harmonious, clean and freshly liveliy. The grape composition is very interesting, with Rondinella, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir.”

Food suggestions: this wine suits very well to grilled meat or fish dishes.

Prosecco Rosé is on the way

The Consorzio Prosecco DOC has finally announced the production of the new Prosecco DOC Rosé Millesimato

Technical facts:

Glera and Pinot Noir are the only permitted grape varieties with 10-15% Pinot Noir allowed
Maximum yields: 18 tonnes/ha for Glera and 13.5 tonnes/ha for Pinot Noir
The fizz can only be produced in two styles: Brut Nature and Extra Dry
The wine must be made using the Martinotti/Charmat method and spend a minimum of 60 days undergoing secondary fermentation in a pressurised tank
A minimum of 85% of the fruit must come from the stated vintage
