Casal Farneto received 5x silver and 1x bronze at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.

We highlight the silver medal winning wines from the La Donna di Bacco Selection:

Crisio 2019

“ Opulent in style, the wine’s oily texture actually contains a well-balanced crispness, allowing the evolving nose of exotic mango, yellow flowers and marzipan, plus the nutty, fresh finish to sing. “

Points

It is a great “Verdicchio Riserva”, very long-lived, which can be uncorked even after eight to ten year of life.

Fontevecchia 2022

TASTINGNOTE:

An evolved smoky nose, enriched with white stone fruit and almond milk, sits atop a generous palate, packed full of citrus and zest, and enlivened by a light, saline-like acidity.

Points

Fontevecchia is one of the most popular wines produced by CasalFarneto Wine Estate. Wine of great expression, it is a variety of Verdicchio Classico Superiore, elegant and very pleasant, on the palate a wide range of fruity and floral aromas stand out.

Gran Casale 2020

TASTINGNOTE:

“Layers of orange blossom, ground nuts and zest create a mealiness in both nose and palate, with a creamy texture enlivened by superb fruit concentration and a mouth-watering finish.”

Points

Grancasale, meaning “big farmhouse”, is a figurative reminder of the ancient farmhouse from which the winery was built. Rich of mineral and citrusy nuances, very elegant, soft and fresh, Grancasale undergoes an attentive selection of clusters and a scrupulous processing in the winery to enhance its smelling sensations.

Otto Borghi 2020

A bronze medal for Otto Borghi 2020:

“A touch of rusticity creates an enjoyable drinking experience, with nice deep fruit and oak. “

It is a wine of remarkable structure and elegance, soft and powerful at the same time.

La Donna di Bacco:

“Donna di Bacco” is a selection of CasalFarneto wines intended for wine-tasting experiences in the restaurant and wine bar.

Silver (90 points) for Vermouth Dry:

“Fruity and balanced with a bright intensity on the nose. Dried lemon rind with stone fruit and sweetness on the palate developing into a breadth of layers.”

Le Marche:

Casal Farneto is located in the region Le Marche, between the sea and the Apennines, one of the most beautiful hilly landscapes of Ancona’s province unfolds.

35 acres of vineyards:

Here with its 35 acres of vineyards and under the shade of Farnetto oaks, from which the estate gets its name, technology, tradition and sustainability are combined, to produce wines of excellence. Wines from CasalFarneto.

Technological farm:

CasalFarneto’s effort to reduce impact on the air, vineyard, land and environment makes it gain the definition of a “technological farm” – a place where to envisage the future of winemaking starting from the tradition.

The winery has been entirely covered by a roof garden planted to vines allowing for a double experience: the pleasant visual continuity with the landscape and a constant underground temperature at 18-20°C where the barrels and tanks are located.

IWSC Medals Santadi

The International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) awarded wines from Cantina di Santadi: Gold for Festa Noria and Silver for Rocca Rubia Riserva.

IWSC medal for Cantina di Santadi’s FESTA NORIA:

A gold medal and 97 (!) points for Santadi’s Festa Noria (fortified wine) at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2022

The vinification of Festa Noria:

The grapes are picked by hand. After a long period of drying in the sun they are fermented with classic red vinification. It starts from a temperature of ca. 20°C, to reach a maximum of 28°C. When 2/3 of residual sugar is consumed, the wine is cooled to stop the fermentation. Then vinous alcohol is added, thus obtaining a liquor wine with an important residual sugar and a final alcohol of about 16%. Then the wine is aging for several years in small oak barrels.

IWSC Medal for Cantina di Santadi’s ROCCA RUBIA RISERVA 2019:

A silver medal and 90 points for Santadi’s Rocca Rubia Riserva 2019 at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2022

The vinification of Rocca Rubia:

After stemming and crushing, the grapes are fermented and macerated for 12-14 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature of 25-28 °C. During this period, the must is frequently pumped up, thus fully absorbing the noble tannins typical of bush-grown carignano. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to small, fine grained 1st and 2nd-passage French oak casks for 10-12 months, to further develop its biochemical and chemical-physical properties, aroma and taste. Further aging in the bottle for several months enables an early bouquet development.

Great reds: Terre Brune, Rocca Rubia, Noras, Araja, Grotta Rossa and Antigua.

These great reds are accompanied by stylish whites.

Awards Masottina: take a look at these recent important results: International Wine Challenge (IWC), International Wine & Spirit Challenge (IWSC), Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and Prosecco Master (by The Drink Business)

R.D.O. Brut Ponente 2021
Gold Medal

Variety: 100% Glera
Residual sugar: 4 g/l

Coming from a vineyard facing south-west, this wine encapsulates all the elegance and finesse of a unique terroir such as Ogliano, where its typical features are sealed by a slightly spicy hint that develops in crescendo thanks to its longevity.
The wine is made from hand-picked selected grapes, white vinified by the gravity method.
Prise de mousse and maturation take place over approximately three months, followed by further ageing for one month in bottle.

R.D.O. Extra Dry Levante 2021
Silver Medal

Variety: 100% Glera
Residual sugar: 13.5 g/l

Hails from a vineyard of 50-year-old vines, facing east and caressed by a constant breeze. The result is a wine whose powerful fruity aroma, structure and mineral touches are widely acknowledged.
Hand-picked, selected grapes are white vinified by the gravity method. Prise de mousse and maturation take place for approximately three months, followed by further ageing for one month in bottle.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG ContradaGranda Extra Dry
Silver Medal

Variety: 100% Glera
Residual sugar: 14 g/l

A well-balanced wine with a lingering finish in which the sugar content brings out its finesse. Once again we can appreciate the different essences of grapes from the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills, selected and white vinified. Prise de mousse and maturation take place over approximately one month, followed by another month of ageing in bottle.

Prosecco DOC Rosé Brut Collezione 96
Silver Medal

Variety: 90% Glera – 10% Pinot Nero
Residual sugar: 8 g/l

This wine blends the elegance of Pinot Noir and the versatility of Glera. The Glera grapes are white vinified, and the Pinot Noir red vinified, after brief pre-fermentation maceration of 24 – 36 hours. The two base wines are then blended before prise de mousse, which takes place on selected yeasts for at least ninety days. The wine ages in bottle for a month before distribution.

Bronze Medal

Variety: 100% Glera
Residual sugar: 10 g/l

Prosecco wine with unmistakable style, featuring outstanding elegance, versatility and finesse. The International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) awarded 3 of the Santadi wines with a silver medal.

SANTADI: The Cantina di Santadi Winery is located in the Sulcis area, in the southwest of Sardinia, just a few miles from the dazzling beaches and white sand dunes of Porto Pino. The grapes produce wines based on the carignano cultivar, with rich, expansive aroma and taste, noble tannins and a perfect balance between acid-organic elements, alcohol and polyphenols. Wise use of French barriques gives a perfect, harmonious finishing touch to the development of these superb wines.

The great reds: Terre Brune, Rocca Rubia, Noras, Araja, Grotta Rossa and Antigua, are accompanied by stylish whites: Villa di Chiesa, Cala Silente, Pedraia, Villa Solais, Latinia, all offsprings of an ancient winemaking tradition coupled with the use of state-of-the-art technology in the sectors of vinification, stabilization and bottling.

Cantina Santadi Villa Solais 2020

TASTING NOTE

“Earthy, mineral, citrus and candied lemon aromas on the nose, combining on the palate with vibrant peach and pear fruit. Lean style with excellent fine line, finishing on sweet pear. “

Villa Solais matches very well with seafood first courses or white meat, but suits also great as aperitif, especially pleasant when served very cool.

Cantina Santadi Latinia 2015

Points

TASTING NOTE:

“Complex nose with orange, nuts, spices, honey, caramel and candied orange zest developing into Crème Brule. Balanced, richly sweet, warm and long. Overall very satisfying.”

Latinia matches very well with Ricotta cheese Ravioli, well matured cheeses and also perfectly fits to any type of dessert.

Cantina Santadi Cala Silente 2020

Points

TASTING NOTE:

“Lemon sherbet, grapefruit, pear and herbs on the nose. Good intensity, firm textured palate, weight and balance with mineral and saline flavours.”

Cala Silente matches well with fish and white meat dishes, with fine aromatic spices and sauces.

The Drinks Business Awards is now already in its 19th year. They have become an authoritative, internationally respected badge of achievement in the alcoholic drinks industry.

For this competition around 200 Proseccos where judged, all of which were assessed without any knowledge of the producer behind them.

The top wines were awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze medals according to their result. Masottina received 3x gold and 1x silver
