Still 5 days to go and Vinitaly will open the doors of its 57th edition.

Enoteca Nederland will be there, in Hall 8, Booth H5.

At our stand you can personally meet and taste with Agricola del Nudo, Cascina Garitina, Masseria del Feudo and Tenuta Etna Nord.

Francesco Calini & Roland Krebser – Agricola del Nudo

Agricola del Nudo was born from the friendship between Stefano Bambagioni, a farmer from Maremma and Roland Krebser, a Swiss oenologist, and is a project of the heart.
Stefano grew grapes using organic methods on his two-hectare vineyard. As an oenologist at a winery, Roland bought these grapes from him. That’s how they met in 2009 and that’s how the story began.
Agricola del Nudo joined the Vigna Enaoli family in 2023.

Gianluca Morino, Cascina Garitina

Cascina Garitina, a family-run farm founded in 1900, is now in its fourth generation. Gianluca Morino is the current owner, with support from Pasquale, Alessandra, Gaia and Veronica.
The company’s name honors great-grandmother Margherita, whose dialect diminutive “Margheritina” is known as Garitina. The farm focuses on enhancing Barbera, the vine predominating in most of their vineyards, reserving the best land exposures for it. The oldest vineyards are specifically dedicated to Nizza DOCG production.

Nestled in the countryside north of Canicattì, Masseria del Feudo is more than just a company: It embodies a family history, fueled by the values and ideals of Francesco and Carolina, fourth-generation agricultural entrepreneurs.
Tradition and innovation drive Francesco and Carolina Cucurullo at their 100% organic certified estate, Masseria del Feudo. The selection of vines prioritizes native varieties such as Grillo, Inzolia, and Nero d’Avola, as well as international grapes traditionally grown in the area, including Chardonnay and Syrah.

Davide Di Bella, Tenuta Etna Nord

Tuscany and Sicily, or Etna, to be precise. Two families united by a shared passion for wine, territory and sustainability have come together to breathe life into a new agricultural venture.
The result is Tenuta Etna Nord, which came about when the Cantoni family, which owns Fattoria Fibbiano in the province of Pisa, joined forces with the Di Bella family, who hail from Castiglione di Sicilia and have been custodians of autochthonous vineyards on Etna’s slopes for generations now.

Happy Pizza Day

World pizza day is quite a new observance.

It was established in 2017 when Pizza received the title of Unesco World Heritage.

In many countries they celebrate Pizza Day on February 9th (U.S. National Pizza Day) but in Italy it is celebrated on January 17th.

Cascina Garitina: the name of the company is due to the great-grandmother Margherita, whose diminutive “Margheritina” in dialect is precisely Garitina.

NIZZA DOCG

MARGHERITA

This Nizza MARGHERITA comes from the first vineyard that great-grandmother Margherita started working in the distant 1900s.

Grape variety: Barbera 100%.

Harvest: by hand into small crates.

Vineyards: Margherita vineyard was planted in 2002.

Exposure: mainly south-west. Altitude: 310 m above sea level.

Training System: low Guyot with 5,500 vines per hectare.

Soil: medium consistency with a tendency towards lime with plenty of organic substance.

Climate: Mediterranean with the occasional continental current, especially in winter; from spring to autumn, the habitual presence of the south wind, known as the “Marin”, is important as it cools the hottest days.

VINIFICATION

Stemming and crushing, cold maceration prior to fermentation (12- 13°C) for 4 days. This is followed by heating to 27°C for one day and alcoholic fermentation at 24°C for one week. Alcoholic fermentation is completed in steel where the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation too. Then the wine is racked into wood in March.

Filtration: no.

Blending of the cuvée: 6 months before bottling.

Minimum bottle maturing: 24 months.

The appellation requires a minimum of 30 months on the fine yeast in the bottle to qualify as DOCG.
The first italian Classic Method was born in 1865 in Piedmont – Canelli – a village nearby Loazzolo.
Loazzolo is one of the selected Villages of the Upper Langa.
Starting in the early 1980s, the Galliano Family began experimenting with Chardonnay and Pinot Nero to produce Classic/Champagne Method Sparkling Wines.

100% Chardonnay
Perfect on its own or as an aperitif accompanied by shellfish, raw fish and fresh cheeses.

CASCINA GARITINA

Nizza Docg Riserva 2015 Gianola

The first Nizza DOCG Riserva with screwcap.

This 100% Barbera is with the union of the 3 Nizza vineyards (CEC, Margherita and Vegia).

It is raised in new tonneaux and then rests for at least 4 years in the bottle before going on the market.

Nose: full of fruity and floral scents,
Notes of wild berries and leather blend finely with hints of spice and flint.
Taste: full-bodied with lively and fragrant tannins.
The finish is excellent, long and persistent.

FRATELLI GRATI

Nose:
Rich bouquet of black cherry fruits.

Tastingnote:

Clear ruby with a slight purple tinge. Shows very clear and balanced with dark cherries, mulberry, saffron and dark chocolate in the background. Juicy and salty on the palate, shows a lot of grippy tannin that opens in many layers. Salty, very good flow, reverberating with a long finish.

Tastingnote:

Very dense, dark ruby, black core. Opens with notes of malt and dark bread crust, dried plums and pickled cherries in the background. Opens nicely on the palate, then displays ripe fruit notes, finely-meshed tannins with good tension, lots of juicy fruit on the finish, still seems very young.

NIZZA DOCG

Nizza Docg is produced entirely from Barbera grapes in a restricted area that includes 18 municipalities around Nizza Monferrato. A production disciplinary has set very strict constraints, to maintain high quality standards of grapes and wines.

Cascina Garitina is founded in 1900 and is a family-run farm, now in its fourth generation with Gianluca Morino, the current owner, supported by Pasquale, Alessandra, Gaia and Veronica. The name of the company is due to the great-grandmother Margherita, whose diminutive “Margheritina” in dialect is precisely Garitina; she started the business back in 1900 then continued by her grandfather Giovanni and her parents Pasquale and Assunta. The activity of the farm is oriented towards the enhancement of Barbera, the vine that extends over most of their vineyards, and to which the land with the best exposures are reserved. In particular, the oldest vineyards are dedicated to the production of Nizza docg. The vineyards are located in the heart of Alto Monferrato, in the southern sector of Nizza DOCG and are divided between 85% Barbera and the remaining 15% between Brachetto, Dolcetto, Pinot Nero, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Update in Cascina Garitina‘s portfolio:

Starting from vintage 2017 the Nizza DOCG, previously named Vecchia 58-61, will be Vegia.

" A splendid 62 year old in the vineyard Here are the news. It is the old vineyard on the top of Bricco Garitta, where there is the Big Bench of Castel Boglione. On the label we started to call it vecchia1961 until the bureaucracy forced us to remove "old". In the #nizzadocg of 2016 we wrote vineyard 58-61 because it was planted between 1958 and 1961. Now the bureaucracy has unblocked the situation and allowed us to use "vegia" which is the dialect equivalent of old. Vigna Vegia will appear with the 2017 harvest (which is already in the bottle)"
